Mary Deems Grugal
Mary Deems was the first editor of The Calumet annual, worked on The Arrow staff and was a member of the California Scholarship Federation.
Mary was married to her husband, Ron, for 41years. They have one daughter and lived in Clairemont. Mary left San Diego in 1964 but returned in 1997. She was a teacher for twenty years and Principal-Headmistress at a private school in Torrance, CA. Mary was a volunteer for educational programs after her retirement, just as she once worked with Advocacy for Children when she was still teaching. She was also heavily involved with volunteer efforts for the Republican party, working for various candidates.
