Mary Martinez Nelson

Just a short two years ago (2000), Mary and Dan Nelson joined their classmates for a joyful 40th reunion celebration, delighting us with the tale of their "improbable" love story. We feel privileged to have shared the time with them. Mary will be warmly remembered. Dan and Mary are shown at right at the 40th Reunion.

From the San Diego Union-Tribune: Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Friday, July 5, 2002 while vacationing in Brazil. Born on January 16, 1943 in Bisbee, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her father, Faustino and mother, Eva Martinez. Survived by her husband Daniel and son, Jerry, daughter Cindy, two brothers, five grandchildren, aunts, cousins and friends. She worked at Mercy Hospital for 30 years and was loved by all her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed life to the fullest always traveling, gardening, going to the Charger games and enjoying her family and friends.

Every so often someone comes into our lives who is so special and so precious that we are forever changed just for having known them.

Mary was one of those special people. She will be missed.

A Memorial Service will be held July 16, 2002 3 p.m. at Our Ladies Chapel, Mercy Hospital.
